Find attached a document with the names and contact info of many mass media companies in the Quebec City Metro Area: mkg-ftp-media-info-f2008

Before you contact them, search on their websites for Readership/Viewership descriptions (the medium’s target market) as well as Advertising rates.

When you do need to contact them, most times you will ask to speak to a sales representative (représentant des ventes) to confirm the target market of the medium and get rates for different sizes/times/locations for your advertisements.

Remember that for your advertisements to be efficient, you should choose a medium whose target market is closest to your target market.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS – Week of November 24 – Worth 5% of term mark

Each team will present a summary of the main elements of their product’s Marketing Plan. After a brief introduction (context and environment summary), the content should focus on Target Market, Marketing Research, and Marketing Mix decisions (4Ps). DO NOT repeat the entire content of the paper. Pretend you are from an advertising agency, trying to convince us of your product’s potential success: be concise, though complete and plan to deliver the presentation in an energetic and convincing style.

Refer to the Notebook on pages 57-62 for guidelines on using PowerPoint for orals.

After the oral, fill out the peer evaluation form found here and hand it in privately to the teacher for Monday December 1 in class: mkg-peer-evaluation-form-f2008 . Failure to properly and responsibly fill the Peer evaluation will lead to a project mark of zero.

What is this retake?

Students who think they did poorly on the second test are given the chance to individually redo the test again, at home, using their notebook and manual, over the break week. Two questions have also been added to the original test.

Who can do the retake?

Anyone, although it is for those who think they did poorly. Those who actually choose to do the test retake, and who had indeed a mark below 60%, will get a passing mark of 60% for the second evaluation, provided the result of the retake is 90% or above.

Otherwise, i.e. if you first test’s mark was above 60% or if your retake’s result is below 90%, no adjustment will be made to the evaluation result, whether you do the retake or not – meaning your mark will remain the same.

Any adjustment eventually made to the mark will not appear in the mid-term mark, but only in the final term mark.

How to proceed?

You are to work alone and cannot contact the teacher for help. Get the file attached, and fill out your answers using Word. Return the test by email to the teacher’s email address hbinette@slc.qc.ca at the latest, for Monday October 20 at 8:30 am – no late hand-ins will be accepted.

While I am absent Monday September 22, work with your team on identifying your product’s potential clients or target market.

You will share your findings at the start of next class, Wednesday Sept. 24 (noon group) or Friday Sept. 26 (morning group). Here is what you are asked to do (#1-3)

Be aware that your target market is the group of people that is most likely to need/want your product. They are the people you had in mind when you decided to create your product.

1. Using segmentation variables (Notebook pages 18-21), identify at least 6-8 segmentation variables (with subcategories and specific variable values and ranges) that describe the individuals in your target market. Make sure to choose at least one in each of the 4 categories (Geog, Demog, Psychog, Behav.).

For example: the target market of my clients who took yoga sessions in parks this summer was:

Geogr: density (urban and suburban).

Demog: gender (female); age (30-55), family-lifecycle (single, married no children, older with kids older that 18), income ($30000 and above); education (university degree).

Psychogr: social class (middles and uppers), Lifestyle (connected enthusiasts)

Behav: Occasion (regular), User status (regular), user rate (mediium user)

Before you write about it, imagine yourselves 5 years from now: your product has been very successful on the market, and you decide to gather together all the clients of your product onto the ice at the Colisée Pepsi. If you took a snapshot picture of this large group, what would the majority of people look like? Describe them physically and otherwise (use segmentation variable terminology).

Once you’re done with the segmentation variables, also do this fun exercise: #2 – give a name to your average client that is representative of his/her personality and also #3 – find a picture on the net for her/ him.

CHALLENGE ME ! is a 2-day youth leadership seminar that will take place on October 16 (start 9 am) & 17 (end 3 pm) at Lac Sergent (40 minutes from Quebec). 

Over these 2 days, students will participate in sports activities and discussions and develop a success plan for what they want to achieve in the near future.

A team of professional animators will come from Montreal to lead this dynamic seminar.

The cost will be partly covered by students who will pay a fee in the range of $40-50. Money will be collected in early October.
